About us
Mensa Luxembourg is a non-profit, apolitical and non-religious association, affiliated with Mensa International. It currently brings together more than 170 members with very varied ages, backgrounds, personalities and interests.
Beyond individual differences, Mensa offers a space for meeting and exchange between people who may share certain experiences related to giftedness. For some, joining the association is also an opportunity to get to know themselves better, to better understand their profile and how they function, and to talk with other people who are asking — or have asked — similar questions.
Gatherings and activities help build connections, share experiences and interests, but also discover new fields, learn from one another and develop new skills. Mensa can thus contribute to the personal, emotional, social or professional fulfilment of its members — while simply remaining, above all, a place to spend good times together.
The association also encourages volunteering. Every member can contribute their ideas, knowledge or skills, propose an activity, take part in a project or contribute to the association’s life according to their wishes and availability. This diversity of contributions allows everyone to be, in turn, a participant, a learner, an organiser or a resource person.
More broadly, Mensa wishes to contribute to a better understanding of human intelligence and its diversity, to support its development and to support research in this field. It also encourages its members to put their knowledge, skills and creativity at the service of projects and, more broadly, of society.
Our history
Mensa International was founded in 1946. The Luxembourg group became an autonomous entity in December 2000. Since then, Mensa Luxembourg has brought its members together through meetings, exchanges and a variety of activities.
The association organises at least one activity per month, including its monthly meeting on the last Thursday of the month, as well as outings, visits, games, talks, workshops and other activities proposed by its members. These activities take place at different times of the week, often on Fridays or weekends, sometimes also on weekdays, depending on members’ availability and wishes.
The life of the association evolves with the people who make it up: everyone can take part in existing activities, share their interests and help bring new ones to life.
